Sharing Sporting Success in Canterbury

Hockey is a sport where our local Club truly competes at a national level, with Canterbury being one of the few Clubs in the country with both its mens’ and ladies teams competing at the top of their respective national leagues. The prize for success in the playoffs is a place in next season’s European competitions.

Of all the excellent players at Canterbury, one of the most highly regarded is Kwan Browne. Kwan is the player/coach of Canterbury Mens’ 1st XI and the player/coach of the Trinidad and Tobago national hockey team. He is regarded world wide as one of the most skilful players in the game. Aside from his incredible skills, Kwan’s hockey game is also about quality and hard work, and these are attributes that we strive to achieve at Gardner Croft.

Gardner Croft has sponsored Canterbury Junior Hockey Club for several years and is proud to have provided sponsorship to Kwan for the past three seasons, not just because of the hockey connection but also because he has a Law Degree and Masters Degree in European and International Law and International Business law. It seems a neat fit with his background that he should be sponsored by us.

And what of Gardner Croft’s involvement in hockey other than sponsorship? Apart from chauffeuring his own children around the hockey pitches of England and beyond, Partner, Tim Townsend, is a Vice President of Canterbury Mens’ Hockey Club, former Chairman of Canterbury Junior Hockey Club, and last season managed the Canterbury Girls under 14 hockey teams which had a very successful season. Tim is also the Honorary Solicitor to Polo Farm Sports Club, the umbrella Club for the hockey, cricket, tennis and croquet played at the extensive grounds at Polo Farm.

We wish Canterbury Hockey Clubs every success now and in the future.
