Disputes can arise across a vast range of areas, whether it’s a workplace dispute, an issue with a neighbour, or even with a friend or family member. Having an experienced senior solicitor on your side can make a huge difference, whether you’re pursuing a claim or defending one.

In his career, Richard has been involved in most areas of litigation, but particularly estate and property related disputes, employment law and injury claims. Richard also frequently deals with complex and high-value injury cases.

Before opting for the law as a profession, Richard obtained an honours degree in Humanities from what is now the University of Huddersfield. He went on to study law and obtained the Common Professional Examination in Law and the Law Society Finals qualifications, and qualified as a solicitor in 1990.

For the early part of his career, Richard worked in practices in North West England where, amongst his most significant cases, Richard was involved in representing many people whose homes had been blighted by the presence of toxic chemicals from a local factory. Richard also spent three years working exclusively in the field of child abuse claims and advised on several high-profile cases of historical abuse.

Richard has long thought that the Law should be taught as a foreign language! He aims to give clear and concise advice which is tailored to the needs of the client, and in doing so provide an efficient and cost-effective service, putting the client’s interests first.

Out of hours, Richard’s interests include French language and culture, playing the guitar in an occasional church band and spending “quality time” with his family. Richard has also helped at a winter night shelter for rough sleepers.
